Am I the only one that feels this happening, like when trying to discuss the free microcode?

You are correct, people do that a lot. But not just about free microcode, but software and hardware freedom in general. In fact even saying no to corporate garbage, proprietary malware is countered this way.

You say to do Y but because you do it from Z, you get criticized for saying to do Y.

This does happen a lot.

Side note:

Also, I love the part where it says, that being said, no one should ever use X.

I prefer to call X twitter mostly, though. Because I don't enjoy playing games just because corporations want to "rebrand"

;)

Twitter is mostly enjoyed by neo nazis and/or fascists now anyways... not to mention their browser sniffing bs is occurring more than other social media websites.

I agree completely. Free software with some blobs is better than completely proprietary software. It's impossible to avoid proprietary software completely but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying to avoid it as much as possible.

> the Chromebooks are actually existing and viable modern options

I never saw one not from US, they are only used ones on ebay sold with no warranty, the seller either does not ship to Europe or the shipping cost is close to the buying cost, so if you receive something not functional, there is nearly no use shipping back.

The most viable modern option to me is the rockpro64 (even though I have not managed to install Trisquel on it so far).
