The 12.0.x LTS edition, codename Ecne. Released on (To be announced).
Current status: ALPHA (in development)

Ecne is a long term support (LTS) version and will be security maintained for until May 2029.

Software versions
Trisquel 12 (Ecne) is based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) and as always it contains only free software, including:- Internet
- Abrowser 136, as default web browser for MATE, KDE Plasma, LXDE desktop environments.
- Icedove 128, as default email client for MATE and KDE Plasma desktop.
- Office Suite
- LibreOffice 24
- GNU Linux-libre based kernels tracking upstream,
- 6.8.x
- 6.11.x as Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE)
- Backports, several key packages added/updated through the backports repository, use with care.
- Notable mention to,
- freedom-maker, a package to build trisquel based instances, many thanks to bill-auger.
- Over 300+ packages modified by the trisquel project just for this release, several bug fixes and maintenance patches.
Editions
This release has 4 editions:- Trisquel, the default desktop environment using MATE, this edition provides a classic desktop environment matching the user experience of previous Trisquel releases.
- Triskel, running the KDE Plasma environment. Excellent for customizing the design and look in fine detail.
- Trisquel Mini, running LXDE, a lightweight desktop perfect for netbooks, old computers or users with a conservative resource usage policy.
- Trisquel Sugar or Trisquel On A Sugar Toast (TOAST) based on the Sugar learning platform. Comes with dozens of educational activities for children.
An alternative network installer for full customization developed specially for Ecne,
- Netinstall installer image, to deploy with a command-line install interface, ideal for servers and advanced users who want to explore custom designed environments.

Finally, this release had put some additional work on Budgie and Kylin DE for users that would like them to test them out.
